Uniden's range capability here is excellent, extending up to two miles ahead on a straight, clear road. The arrows are built in, as is the 360º protection everywhere thanks to the dual antenna. In terms of reach, the V1G2 and R7 are neck and neck. In independent tests conducted by Vortex Radar, the alert distance varied by only 200 to 300 feet between the two detectors, with Uniden's offering occasionally winning, depending on the band and configuration.
